Although I am not associated with them in any way I was thrilled and honoured to be invited aboard the mighty MV Alucia for the day to witness the submersibles being deployed and retrieved. It was a dream of mine for many years to be able to go on board this incredible ship. To walk in the same footsteps as Sir David Attenborough did when they filmed Blue planet 2 was incredible. For me this was a joint career highlight of my previous career as an engineer and my current career as a dive professional. The incredible culmination of technology and the spirit of exploration meeting in a glorious unity of gadgetry. Let's be honest, those submersibles are the coolest things ever! The high lite for me was sitting in the operations control room talking to the operation engineers while the subs were on assignment. Discussing fail safe mechanisms and other submersible technology I don't mind admitting I was like a kid in a sweet shop.
Respect and gratitude has to be given to the owner of this vessel who allows people to come on board and experience what Alucia it has to offer. A privilege bestowed to very few for which I am truly grateful.
